An important event aimed at increasing disaster awareness among students was held in Bartın. As part of the Science Talks Program conducted by the TÜBİTAK Science and Society Directorate, a talk on "First Aid in Natural Disasters" was organized at Bartın Epçiler Middle School.
The talk was given by Dr. Aylin KURT, a faculty member of the Department of Child Health and Diseases Nursing at our faculty. Dr. Aylin KURT provided students with basic information about natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and landslides, and explained in detail the correct behaviors during and after a disaster.
Particularly emphasizing the vital importance of first aid, KURT explained simple and effective first aid practices with examples. The talk, which attracted great interest from the students, was interactive, and the children's questions were answered one by one. Thus, students were both made aware of disasters and taught how to act in emergencies.
Officials stated that such activities create awareness in children at an early age, emphasizing the importance of raising individuals prepared for disasters. It was noted that the students' knowledge level on the subject increased at the end of the event.
