The studies of Bartın University (BARÜ) academic staff, supported by Scientific Research Projects (BAP) Coordinatorship, received the "Best Oral Presentation Award" at the 3rd International 9th National Intensive Care Nursing Congress.

Supported by Bartın University (BARÜ) Scientific Research Projects (BAP) Coordinatorship, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sevim Çelik and Assoc. Dr. Elif Karahan, Dr. Instructor Member Sibel Altıntaş and Res. See. The project titled "The Effect of Using Ergonomic Sleep Masks on Sleep Quality and Comfort in Intensive Care Patients", in which Özge Uçar is a researcher, received an award.

The research presented at the 3rd International 9th National Intensive Care Nursing Congress held in Antalya with the main theme of "Evidence-Based Best Practices-We Build Bridges Together" was awarded the "Best Oral Presentation Award".

Pointing out that the award received at the congress, where many nurses and academicians at national and international level came together, is very important. Dr. Çelik said, “Intensive care units are noisy environments where the lights are always on and circulation is high. Depending on these reasons and the general clinical condition of the patients, it is seen that up to 90 percent of the patients have insomnia problems in intensive care units. In the randomized controlled experimental research project, an ergonomically designed sleep mask was used to keep patients away from light and noise. As a result of the project, it was determined that the sleep quality and comfort levels of the patients in the experimental group using ergonomic sleep masks were significantly higher than those in the control group using earplugs and sleep bands. In this study, in which important data were obtained, we pioneered an application that will be beneficial to the whole society. At this point, he finds the award very meaningful, and our Rector Prof. Dr. I would like to thank Mr. Orhan Uzun.”

Congratulating the project team for their efforts, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun said, “Bartın University has goals to contribute to the development of our country, starting from its region.
