BARU Will Prepare Youth for Disaster and Emergency Response

With the project of Bartın University (BARÜ) supported by TÜBİTAK, young people between the ages of 18-24 will be given life-saving first aid training in disasters and emergencies.
Bartın University (BARU) Faculty of Health Sciences, Nursing Department Lecturer Assoc. Dr. The project prepared by Ayfer Bayındır Çevik within the scope of "TÜBİTAK-1002-B Emergency Support Module" was found worthy of support. Within the scope of the project titled "Life-Saving First Aid Initiatives in Disaster and Emergency Situations", trainings will be given to young people between the ages of 18-24 registered with the Bartın Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Giving information about the project, Çevik pointed out the importance of taking steps to protect human health in disasters and said, "Within the scope of our project, we aim to train young people, who are the most important resource of society, to be individuals with first aid knowledge and skills in order to be prepared for disasters such as earthquakes."
Çevik also stated that 12 first aid topics that may be encountered frequently in disasters will be discussed in the trainings and said, “After the theoretical training to be given in the first aid training module, the participants will be given applications at stations prepared according to basic life support, injuries, bleeding, shock, fracture-dislocation and sprains, and transport techniques.With the trainings to be given about being ready for disasters at any time, our young people will be able to respond quickly and accurately to possible negativities.”
Noting that science-based development is the most important tool to look to the future with confidence, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun said, “Science and technology-based studies play an important role on the way to our country's goals.Being aware of this, we are making a sustainable contribution to the development of our country, starting from our region, in our journey that we continue with determination.
At the same time, we take steps to ensure that our society is prepared for all kinds of negativities that may occur as a result of disasters, by saying 'human first'.
