In addition to the situation determination and evaluations with the interviews to be held in the acute period after the earthquake, face-to-face meetings and forward-looking plans can be made, which will prepare the ground for the better health of women, their children and the community in the continuation of their lives.
In this direction, the effects of the earthquake on the mental health of pregnant women and puerperant women in tent cities established in the central region of Elbistan-Afşin, which are the districts of Kahramanmaraş, will be investigated.
It is very important to protect the health of pregnant and postpartum women, who have an important and special place for the whole society in terms of the continuity of the social population and epigenetic transmission processes after natural disasters such as earthquakes. The psychological well-being of women during pregnancy and puerperium plays an important role in the development of society by affecting both the mother and the baby. It is known that natural disasters such as earthquakes negatively affect physical and mental health by exposing individuals to excessive stress. However, little is known about the effects of earthquakes on pregnant and postpartum women. For these reasons, the mental health of pregnant and postpartum women will be determined by this project after these severe earthquakes that occurred one after another and had a devastating effect on a large scale. It will form the infrastructure for future studies.
