“Insidious Danger Hypertension in the Community” event was held.

 

Hypertension is one of the most common chronic diseases and is a global public health problem. Hypertension; It is associated with conditions such as heart diseases, stroke, kidney disease, premature death and disability, and constitutes a significant burden in the field of health and economy. At the same time, hypertension is called an insidious danger to society. However, hypertension is a preventable and treatable disease. An important factor in preventing and treating it is the awareness of individuals about hypertension. On behalf of this awareness, the "Insidious Danger Hypertension in the Community" event was organized by the Faculty of Health Sciences of Bartın University on May 20, 2022 at Ağdacı Campus and Mehmet Akif Mosque. Within the scope of the activity, blood pressure measurements of the participants were made. A total of 163 people participated in our event, which showed great interest by our university's academic staff, administrative staff, students and the congregation who came to Mehmet Akif Mosque for Friday prayers. First year students of the Department of Nursing, Nursing Fundamentals Inst. See. Feyzan GARIP, Lect. See. With the support of Merve KIRŞAN BÜYÜKTARAKÇI, she made and recorded the measurements and conveyed the measurement results to the participants. As a result of the measurement, the participants stated that they gained awareness about hypertension, that people with blood pressure results at the upper and lower limits would make regular measurements, increase their physical activity, and attach importance to healthy nutrition. Those whose blood pressure values ​​were at the upper limit were referred to primary health care institutions for regular measurements and follow-ups. We would like to thank the valuable participants who participated in our event.
