Nursing Department Peer Mentoring Program Introduction Event Held
Bartın University Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department organized the Peer Mentoring Program Introduction Event, which was held on September 29, 2025, at the Ağdacı Campus Conference Hall.
At the opening of the event, Dr. Emine Üstün Gökçe, Head of the Peer Mentoring Working Group, provided information about the program. Dr. Gökçe emphasized the importance of peer mentoring for students, both academically and socially, and stated that this program would create a strong network of solidarity among students. As part of the briefing, students who had previously participated in the program as mentees (students receiving mentoring) and mentors (students providing mentoring) shared their experiences.
The mentor students explained that they guided their peers on topics such as course content, clinical applications, faculty adaptation, and academic planning. They emphasized that being a mentor helped them develop leadership, responsibility, and communication skills. Mentee students stated that the program helped them adapt to the faculty more quickly, feel less alone in academic processes, and that receiving support increased their motivation.
The event concluded by highlighting that the peer mentoring process was an educational and developmental experience for both parties. Participants shared their positive views on the program reaching a wider student audience in the new term.
