Social Work Career Day Event Held at Our Faculty

As part of Bartın University Career and Employment Days, an event titled "Professional Experiences and Employment Opportunities in Social Work" was held on May 22, 2025. The event was honored by the participation of Bartın Probation Directorate Manager İsa KÜÇÜK and featured presentations by Social Worker Durmuş TOP from the Mental Health Department of the Public Health Services Unit of the Provincial Health Directorate, and Sociologist Ebru KÜÇÜKÇALIK, Probation Expert from Bartın Probation Directorate.

Mr. Durmuş TOP, who began his professional career at the Provincial Health Directorate, shared his experiences as a social worker. He informed students about the projects they have carried out within the directorate and the ongoing training, seminars, screenings, and awareness activities they conduct in the field related to neglect and abuse, violence against women, technology addiction, and suicide cases.

Ms. Ebru KÜÇÜKÇALIK, representing the Bartın Probation Directorate, talked about probation services and the responsibilities of social workers within the probation system. Highlighting the importance of institutions that oversee the rehabilitation and reintegration processes of individuals as part of the penal system for all segments of society, KÜÇÜKÇALIK concluded her speech by discussing volunteer work in Probation Services.

 

The valuable insights shared by the speakers provided guidance and inspiration for our social work students. Following the Q&A session, during which students had the opportunity to get answers to their questions about the profession, the event concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the speakers by our Faculty Vice Dean Dr. Elif İŞLEK and Deputy Head of the Social Work Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sinan ACAR.
