World Social Work Day Online Webinar 'Parenting the Pandemic' Held

Our activity titled "Parenting in Pandemic: Risks and Suggestions" organized by the Social Work Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences as part of the World Social Work Day on March 16, 2021, was actively carried out with the shares and questions of the participants.

The World Social Work Day, which was initiated by the International Federation of Social Workers in 1983, is celebrated as the 3rd Tuesday of March every year. On this occasion, the event prepared by our Social Service Department was attended by Head of Department Dr. Lecturer It was moderated by its member, Zeynep Turhan, and the problems experienced by families during the pandemic period and their solution suggestions were mentioned.

Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Sevim Çelik congratulated all social workers on the World Social Work Day and made the opening speech of the event. Dear Dean, Prof. Dr. In her speech, Sevim Çelik emphasized the importance of social work, which is an effective profession in protecting, supporting and empowering disadvantaged groups in society, and stated that we are happy to contribute to the field and society with our students who will be trained in the newly established Social Service Department within Bartın University Faculty of Health Sciences.

At the event, Dr. Lecturer Ferda Karadağ, a member, handled the problems, violence and abuse in the family during the pandemic period from a social service perspective. Later, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Diseases, Psychologist Associate Professor. Gülin Evinç made her speech titled “Communication with Children in Pandemic, Borders, Rules”. The event was completed with the participants' sharing, questions and answers.



We experienced many difficulties during the pandemic period. But in this process, being a parent and being able to get through this process with our children in a healthy way was our biggest challenge. In this sense, we think this meeting is very useful and we thank our speakers and participants.
