Dr. Work has started within the scope of the project titled "The Effect of Progressive Breathing and Relaxation Exercises on Sleep Hygiene and Quality of Earthquake Victims" led by Elif Karahan. BARU Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Dr. Sevim Çelik from the Faculty of Health Sciences. Instructor Member Sibel Altıntaş, Res. See. Özge Uçar and Res. See. It is aimed to minimize the effects of physical and mental trauma in the studies in which Meryem Yücel is involved.

Drawing attention to the population mobility that occurred after the earthquakes that caused great destruction, Assoc. Dr. Karahan said, “As a result of the earthquakes, which are described as the disaster of the century, the people of the region were evacuated to other provinces. Earthquake survivors who are evacuated quickly as a result of an unexpected situation are faced with many mental and physical health problems. Experienced events, physical and mental traumas, stress and anxiety disorders, rapid change in the environment and daily routines have paved the way for the prevalence of sleep problems along with existing chronic diseases.

Earthquake survivors who are going through difficult times will be able to use these exercises for the rest of their lives, as well as in times of stress as well as sleep problems.

Emphasizing the importance of scientific studies in order to heal the wounds caused by the earthquake and to make plans for the future, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun said, “Scientists who are competent in the field of our university started field studies right after the disaster and implemented projects in different disciplines.
