'Healthcare Services Are Reshaping With Artificial Intelligence Applications' Symposium Was Held

In the symposium held by the Faculty of Health Sciences of our university, with the participation of speakers from Turkey and abroad, the changes in the field of health services and future applications were discussed.

A symposium titled "Health Services Reforms with Artificial Intelligence Applications" was held by the Faculty of Health Sciences of our University with the participation of 917 people from Turkey and abroad. Making the opening speech of the event, Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Sevim Çelik said that the power of technology, which makes our lives easier and directs our lives, affects the field of health as well as in every field.

Emphasizing that health services are at the top of the areas where artificial intelligence applications are most affected, Çelik said, “We see that applications for the protection of health with artificial intelligence, early detection of health risks, increasing the quality of health services, realizing more service production with less manpower, are rapidly increasing. In this context, the designers and implementers of artificial intelligence applications in the field of health, academics in the field of health and engineering, health institution managers, physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, public and private sector employees working in the software and informatics sector showed great interest in the symposium we organized. From this point of view, we plan to carry out wider scientific activities and projects as a continuation of the symposium. " said.

Experienced change, future applications ...

Speakers made their speeches on the field in 8 sessions in the symposium. In the morning sessions, academic staff of our University Faculty of Science Assoc. Dr. Ramazan Yılmaz “Artificial Intelligence and the Future”, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine academic staff member Assoc. Dr. Barış Sezer “Application Areas of Artificial Intelligence in Health”, Our University Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design Dr. Lecturer Mehmet Emin Aktan made his speech under the title of "Artificial Intelligence Applications in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation".

In the afternoon, Bartın University Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design Dr. Lecturer Prof. Evrim Güler from Newcastle University. Ümit Demirçağ “Safe and Measurable Big Data Analytics in Health”, Bartın University Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design, Lecturer Dr. Ferhat Sadak "Deep Learning and Applications in Medical Robots", Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine Assoc. Dr. Aslıhan Akpınar gave information on "The Ethical Dimension of the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Health Services" and Yasin Yarbay, the Ministry of Health Health Information Systems National Projects Coordinator, on "Tele-Radiology and Artificial Intelligence Applications of the Ministry of Health".

"We are in a constant change and transformation"

Our University Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun thanked those who contributed to the realization of the symposium.

Rector Uzun said, “I am very pleased that the“ health ”issue, which we understand once again, and which is of great importance both personally and socially, has been addressed, especially during the epidemic period we are in. In today's world, which is constantly changing and transforming, one of the areas that get the most from this movement is health. " he spoke.

"Artificial intelligence and learning machines have become indispensable building blocks in the field of health."

Underlining that my technological changes bring unique innovations to the field of healthcare services, Rector Uzun said, “Artificial intelligence and learning machines are used in diagnosis, treatment and post-treatment services as one of the indispensable building blocks and assistants in the field of health. Implantable products, smart sensors and wearable technologies allow individuals to be proactively monitored and guided anywhere and anytime. The number of these innovative applications in health is increasing day by day and billions of dollars of investments are made every year in this field. So the future is in smart technologies and smart health applications. " He spoke in the form.

"We focus on 'smart' technologies within the scope of our specialization studies"

Rector Uzun also stated that as one of the 15 universities included in the scope of specialization, they focused on "smart" technologies within the scope of the studies on "Smart Logistics and Integrated Area Applications".

Rector Uzun continued his speech as follows:

“We add value to the development of our country, starting from our region, under the subtitles of Smart Logistics, Smart Port, Smart Industry, Smart Cities and Smart Health. In this context, we have started our works for the establishment of "Smart Systems Data Center" that will provide motivations such as creating a more effective system and reducing costs with the aim of a healthier society and individuals. We have developed projects such as "Early Detection of Orthopedic Disorders with Intelligent Robotic System" and "Integrated Circuit Design for Mobile Health Services" that will contribute to the development of high technology infrastructure in our region. In addition to these, we produced enzymes with local resources using recombinant DNA technology during the pandemic period. We implemented important projects in the Anticancer Research Laboratory. Our efforts in this area increasingly continue. "
