Breastfeeding in Visually Impaired Women: Experience Sharing Event Organized

Within the scope of the Breastfeeding Week Event on August 1-7, “Breastfeeding in Visually Impaired Women: Experience Sharing Seminar” was held online on October 17, 2024 by the Department of Midwifery of our Faculty.
The opening speech of the seminar was delivered by Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Midwifery faculty member Assist. Dr. Yeliz CAKIR KOCAK made the opening speech. In her speech, she emphasized that it is necessary to support the breastfeeding experiences of visually impaired women and to offer solutions to the difficulties they experience in this process. In the event, Cemil Meric Secondary School teacher Emel Gölge and Ege University Faculty of Nursing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem Demirel Bozkurt shared the experiences of visually impaired women in the breastfeeding process with the participants.
The seminar provided an important platform to discuss the obstacles faced by this special group and strategies to overcome these obstacles. Participants gained important information aimed at addressing the breastfeeding process of visually impaired women in a more informed way and supporting them better.
The event, which attracted great interest from academics, midwives, nurses and students, ended with answering questions from the participants.
